SATELLITE MEDIA TOUR SHOOT
WHAT IS IT?
A satellite media tour (SMT) is a preset on camera interview with a company spokesperson, industry expert, and/or a celebrity. The purpose of the on camera interview is to address a company and its overall products or a specific product such as a new product release. The videotaping is typically shot in a period of an hour or two depending on the amount of products in a shoot. Once the taping and editing is complete a group of targeted television stations, syndicated programs, networks, cable outlets, newsfeeds and Internet broadband feeds are scheduled and distributed to.
WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT?
Satellite media tours provide the ability to have interviews at tradeshows and other public or industry gatherings where SMT producers can shoot several subjects so as to save the clients the cost of expensive in studio video shoots. A SMT enables TV and broadband Internet exposure without the expense and inconvenience of an in-studio/-in- person city media tour. Clients may also incorporate a generic interview/B-Roll feed at the end of the SMT window.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Satellite media tours provide excellent opportunities for live interaction with a company and its products. With today’s broadband Internet distribution, podcast, viral video capabilities and rapidly growing use an SMT provides rapid exposure and use for video assets. In addition SMT assets can be distributed with press release distribution and focused for specific news feeds to local and network TV and product content shows and news companies. A SMT is the most efficient and powerful production and use for promotional and news video.
